Janet Oakley, writing as J.L Oakley, is an award winning author of historical fiction and memoir essays. Her writings appear in various literary publications, including Clover, A Literary Rag. Timber Rose, set in the North Cascades at the turn of century, is a 2015 WILLA award silver finalist and first place 2014 Chaucer Award winner. Tree Soldier won the 2012 EPIC ebook Award, 2013 Chanticleer Grand Prize, and was chosen by Pacific NW librarians as their 2013 Everybody Reads pick. Last spring, Oakley published her first mystery novella, Saddle Road, for the launch of the Lei Crime Kindle World series. A second novella, Coconut Island, debuted in October. She writes every day. When not writing, she enjoys gardening and demonstrating 19th century life.
