Howard Chao

Howard Chao is an investor, lawyer and counselor to entrepreneurs. He began his work life as a corporate lawyer with O'Melveny & Myers and practiced for many years as a cross-border investment specialist based in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Silicon Valley. He chaired the firm's Asia practice and helped build it into one of the leading practices in the region. In recent years Howard has moved to the principal side of investing and deal-making. He invests primarily in tech startups, although he is also involved in more traditional industry and real estate projects. He works primarily in Silicon Valley, with an emphasis on cross-border related deals. Because of Howard's extensive experience with Asia, many of his deals have an Asian (particularly Chinese) nexus. He also has involvement with several Latin America related projects. Howard invests through his family vehicle, Doon Capital, and co-invests with affiliated investment funds.
