At the Dodram 2024-2025 V-League Men's Media Day, held at The-K Hotel Seoul on October 15, Woori Card’s outside hitter, Ali, was recognized as the most impressive Asian quota player, as voted by his fellow players. OK Financial Group's Lee Min-kyu, Korea Electric Power's Lim Seong-jin, Samsung Fire's Kim Jung-ho, and KB Insurance's Jeong Min-su all named Ali in their selections. Although Ali did not attend the media day event, his name was mentioned frequently throughout. Ali, hailing from Iran, was the first overall pick for Woori Card during the Asian Quota Tryout earlier this year. Held in Jeju, the tryout showcased Ali’s power, height, and energetic play, all of which earned him high praise. Standing at 198 cm, Ali's height and strength made his attacking prowess particularly noteworthy. Ali has already made a seamless transition to the domestic volleyball scene, with a stellar performance in the recent cup competition. Across three group-stage matches, Ali consistently impressed, scoring 18 points against both Samsung Fire and Korea Electric Power and racking up 22 points against the Korean Armed Forces Athletic Corps. His attacking success rate exceeded 60% in all three games, demonstrating his reliability. Additionally, Ali contributed 7 blocks over the three matches, further emphasizing his effectiveness at the net. His powerful offensive game was complemented by strong defensive play, including a reception efficiency above 30% and 16 digs, showcasing his well-rounded skills and dedication. Korea Electric Power’s Lim Seong-jin explained his vote, stating, “His powerful attacks left a lasting impression on me.” Samsung Fire’s Kim Jung-ho added, “He has a fighter’s mentality. He brings an incredible level of passion to the game.” Jeong Min-su of KB Insurance praised Ali’s abilities, saying, “His attack and speed are among the best in our league.” Now in its second year, the Asian quota system is expected to yield even greater results, with higher-caliber players joining the V-League and contributing significantly to their teams. Other standout players were also mentioned. Korean Air’s Jeong Han-yong highlighted Hyundai Capital’s Xin Feng from China, while Samsung Fire’s Fazli from Iran received praise from Heo Soo-bong. Woori Card’s Kim Ji-han selected Elian from Cuba as his most impressive player.
