My name is Rachel. I am a mom, a wife, a sister, and a daughter. I transplated to the south in 2006 from California. I am a city girl living in the country and still learning along the way. I have 2 happy and energetic young boys that keep my life very interesting. I live in the woods with chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, 2 cats and 2 dogs. My life is never dull. I am a yoga teacher, writer, health coach in training, and lover of food. My passion for food started when I was a young girl finding recipes to cook after school. Food was a huge part of my life growing up in the northeast, primarily Philadelphia and Cherry Hill,NJ. Food was always part of life, it was what brought families together. When my oldest son Blaise was born in 2007 he was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Prader Willi Syndrome. The most notable symptom of his syndrome is lack of satiety. My son is always hungry. What that means for us is that all the food in our house is under lock and key. My son's brain sends a signal for him to eat all day every day. This combined with a metabolism that is virtually non existant meant our relationship with food would drastically change. No more italian dinners with bread and pasta, no more ice cream any day of the week. For the first two years of his diagnosis I hated food and felt that my love of food would never return. Slowly it did and I got back to my roots. I was raised with a very health conscious mom and older sister. I was lucky to have so much knowledge under my belt. I started creating new recipes, creating new ways of eating. You can have it all. Great food, full of nutrients, and totally fulfilling. Food is so much more than the substance that we put on the fork and place in our mouths. There is the other food in your life, the spiritual food, the relationship food, the career food, the self love food. We feed ourselves with the plate and with the details in our lives. I love it all. I want to share with you all the things that feed us. I want to share with you my love of all things that nurture us inside and out.
