Vicki D. Lachman, PhD, APRN, FAAN, NEA-BC is President of V.L. Associates, a consulting and leadership development company. Dr. Lachman serves as a trustee on the Cape Regional Hospital board and as a member on its ethics committee. She serves on the ANA Ethics and Human Rights Advisory Board and as the editor for the ethics, law, and policy column for MedSurg Nursing: The Journal of Adult Health. Her seminal work, Ethical Challenges in Healthcare: Developing Your Moral Compass (2009), draws specific correlations between moral courage and quality of care. This book, her hundreds of other articles, and thousands of presentations were the pioneering work that led to her to be selected as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2011. She has been certified in Nurse Executive, Advanced since 1989.
